Georges Le Mercenaire's 'Under The Sea' series sparks both fear and curiosity within me. I came across his work when researching for the 'Love or Hate' project, as I was looking at the hating the sea at first I disliked his theme. However, on closer inspection, I admired his subtle use of colour and the contast between the solid, dark background and the more delicate, highlighted figures in the foreground. I can also see how well the typography fits with the image as a whole as well as the theme itself. The typography appears to have been influence by the nautical theme and it flows freely between the drawings themselves as if it was the water that it is supposedly under.
